Canary Islands mainSpacer

It’s not difficult to understand why the Canary Islands are so popular. Situated about 1,000km south off the Spanish mainland and with its southernmost island lying about 100km off the coast of Morocco, this ‘Autonomous Community’ of Spain offers plenty of sunshine and little rain. Even in winter, the temperature is unlikely to drop below 18°C.

The archipelago consists of five main islands: La Palma, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, plus the two smaller, less well-known islands of El Hierro and La Gomera. All the islands are, in fact, giant semi-submerged volcanoes. The Teide volcano in Tenerife is, in fact, the third largest in the world.

The volcanic nature of this region combined with its popularity makes for some spectacular – if varied – scenery. The coastline comprises a delicious mix of golden and black sand beaches, vertiginous cliffs, hidden coves and palatial developments. Whether you want a short trip for lunch and a relaxing afternoon in a secluded bay, or a longer trip to explore more than one island, this is a superb location for an exclusive motoryacht charter.
